Limassol Carnival (February or March depending on the year)
While all Cyprus celebrates Carnival with fancy dress and parties, there is no city which approaches the spectacle Limassol presents annually. The Carnival begins two weeks before the lent period which preceeds Easter.
Carnival festivities begin on the Thursday called 'tsiknopempti' with the entrace parade of King Carnival and continues with Childrens parade on the first Sunday. Many fancy dress parties take place in the town and also Estella organises its own carnival party every year. The carnival finishes on a Sunday with a spectacular parade along the citys main streets.

Greek Orthodox Easter (time varies yearly)
Easter is the biggest celebration of the Greek Orthodox year and it is a interesting time in Cyprus for the tourists. The whole island will be celebrating the Easter with many events in the islands churches, the most beautiful being the midnight mass on Easter Saturday.
Anthestiria - Flower Festival (May)
The Flower festival was originally organised in mainland Greece in honour of the God Dionysos and the rebirth of nature. Limassol is the town in Cyprus where nature beauty is celebrated every year with flower exhibitions and flower parade.
Kataklysmos - Festival of the flood (June)
Kataklysmos is a festival which takes place near the sea shore in Limassol on the Sunday of the Pentecost and the Monday of the Holy Spirit. The custom of throwing water at each other has prevailed in all the coastal towns and many dancing & singing competitions take place in Limassols seafront together with games for the children.
Shakespearean Nights (June)
This is a charity event organised yearly at the ancien theatre of Curium near Limassol. There a different Shakespeare play is staged every year in fascinating environment in the open air theatre. Experience not to be missed.
Wine Festival (end of August - September)
The first Limassol Wine Festival was organised in 1961 offering to Cypriots and visitors a taste of Cypriot wine and fun and has been an annual event ever since. Some 15.000 visitiors come each year to taste (free of charge) an assortment of wines, to enjoy the warm atmosphere, feast on delicious local dishes and be entertained by local dancers, songs and plays. The slogan of the festival is 'Drink wine, it gives you life'. The festival is organised in the Limassol Municipal Gardens and the easiest way to get there from Estella is with the city buses which run until late at night during the festival.
